A new Jane Austen adaptation is always cause for excitement, and in a surprise announcement that is taking the internet by storm we now have out first look at an all-new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility anchored by the utterly charming and astonishing Daisy Edgar-Jones, and this is a trailer that will utter sweep you up.

Check out the all-new trailer for Sense and Sensibility below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

An irresistible new take on Jane Austen’s iconic Sense and Sensibility: a charming, witty, and deeply relatable story of love and sisterhood starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles.

The sophomoric work of filmmaker Georgia Oakley, this first trailer presents a film that is both a testament to Jane Austen’s debut novel, and it’s original setting and characters, but is also feeling decidedly modern at the same time, and that makes it a real treat for audiences.

Both Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles appear to be perfectly casted as Elinor Dashwood and Marianne Dashwood, and soon all kinds of swoon worthy romance soon follows with the presence of the dapper Edward Ferrars (George MacKay), and the slightly goofy John Willoughby (Frank Dillane). And it all leads to plenty of fun.

For Daisy Edgar-Jones, Sense and Sensibility is a terrific place on which to play on, and audiences seeking fun, romance, and the classic freedom of the prose of Jane Austen, along with an utterly arresting and breathtaing vision of cinema will be left enchanted when Sense and Sensibility arrives in cinemas on October 15.

The full force of the storm lashes out at audiences in Twisters, and this is a pure popcorn blockbuster with plenty of thrills, a dash of romance and a whole heap of reckless attitude. So buckle up and get ready to ride the whirlwind.

Haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado, Kate Cooper gets lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi, to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. She soon crosses paths with Tyler Owens, a charming but reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures. As storm season intensifies, Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves in a fight for their lives as multiple systems converge over central Oklahoma.

Leading audiences into the torrential adrenaline of Twisters is filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung, who is following up on Twisters after his critically lauded work on Minari, and he makes this a movie-going experience of full-on rock ‘n’ roll fun. Chung brings incredible energy and kinetic speed to Twisters, and from the very start, he unleashes the power of nature at full force. Drawing inspiration from his past living in Arkansas, a state with its own history of tornados, Chung leads audiences into the country heartland of Oklahoma and the mixture of scientists and daredevils who see storm chasing as a way of life. Chung has a lot of space to play in with this picture and focuses on themes of fear, belief and discovery, all of which add an incredible kick to the film’s narrative.

Chung lucks out with an incredible cast, and leading right from the start is the super talented Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate Cooper, a gifted meteorologist with an almost sixth sense to predict the weather, but who, after suffering a tragic accident, has been left as an utter shell of a person. She is pulled back into the chase by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos), a former Army veteran who had gotten his hands on advanced DARPA tech and hopes to use it to see into the very eye of the storm. With a new purpose, Kate jumps into a truck and gets back on the chase, and the adrenaline starts spiking from there. As she is prone to do, Edgar-Jones fully disappears into the character of Kate, and as the narrative moves forward, we see the layers begin to shed from this Oklahoma girl as she has to confront her past and the fear that’s wrapped itself around her for so long.

Playing off of Kate’s logic in Twisters is Hollywood’s new leading man, Glen Powell, who is a pure cowboy in the role of ‘Tornado Wrangler’ Tyler Owens. A maverick former bull rider turned storm chaser, Tyler is a social media superstar who acts first and thinks later, and he’s ready to go to the fullest extent to experience the raw power of mother nature in some of Twisters’ most hair-raising action scenes. While Tyler might at first be a brash and reckless daredevil, much like Kate, there’s considerable layering and depth to his character, and at his core, he’s a genuine stand-up guy who’s willing to do the right thing. Edgar-Jones and Powell have a fantastic sense of chemistry together, and you can just feel the butterflies. Then there’s Powell’s swaggering sex appeal, which, when fitted out with a cowboy hat, white t-shirt, jeans and a rain storm, will send the ladies in the audience into a frenzy.

Chung finds considerable speed and action with Twisters with this disaster-chase-romance film, and it stands out as something different from other blockbusters we’ve seen this year. Chung and cinematographer Dan Mindel bring an Andrew Wyeth quality to the imagery, with its ghostly palette of blue, green, grey and white, and they capture the rustic country beauty of the Oklahoma plains. The brunt of the storm also falls heavy on audiences, and through a combination of practical effects and stunning CGI, the colossal and completely unforgiving power of mother nature is brought full force onto the big screen, and it’s damn frightening at times.

Twisters is a cinematic experience that will throw you right back into your seat, and its heavy storm scenes and tornado ferocity hit at full force. Taking cues from mother nature herself, Chung throws the action of the storm straight at audiences without any warning, and it gets damn gnarly as the narrative builds, and there’s nowhere to hide. Key moments include the ‘Hayride Tornado’ scene and the film’s final climatic third act that sees mother nature unleash sheer carnage inside a movie theatre, and seeing it up on the big screen, you’ll be utterly floored by the experience. Twisters is a true blockbuster experience, and its rock ‘n’ roll flair is only increased by its rocking soundtrack, which includes a list of some of the best country artists working today, including Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Bailey Zimmerman and Tanner Adell.

If you’re looking for that cinema rush, Twisters is a hell of an adrenaline-pumping rodeo experience and proves that there’s nothing better than the thrill of the chase!

Bringing together a collision of genres and one of the literary world’s most intriguing and nuanced characters to the big screen is director Olivia Newman’s Where the Crawdads Sings, and this production will take audiences by surprise.

From the best-selling novel comes a captivating mystery. Where the Crawdads Sing tells the story of Kya Clark (Daisy Edgar-Jones), an abandoned girl who raised herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world; but when one of them is found dead, she is immediately cast by the community as the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what actually happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.

Adapted from the best-selling novel by Delia Owens, Where The Crawdads Sing took the publishing world by storm and audiences were drawn into its original and complex mystery drama. And rightly so. This story now arrives on the big screen courtesy of director Olivia Newman, and audiences are in for something very different with its twisting plot. As a project championed by producer Reese Witherspoon, Where the Crawdads Sing is a narrative that takes the audience by surprise and is shaped by the focus and presence of its lead character. Its setting, narrative and genre mix-up keeps the suspense and pacing interesting, and moment by moment you’re fully engaged as to where this story is moving. And there are some considerably intense moments that come to light in the third act.

Where the Crawdads Sing is an interesting cinematic experience primarily as it is a narrative drama that is driven from the perspective of its central character Catherine ‘Kya’ Clark, who is portrayed by the young actress of the moment Daisy Edgar-Jones in a committed performance. I can’t remember ever seeing a character like Kya before on screen. A young reclusive girl, who has locked herself away from society and devoted herself to her home of the North Carolina marsh, Kya is a quick-thinking, learned naturalist who has become a part of the marshlands that have surrounded her life. Guarded and shy, much of Edgar-Jones performance is delivered through a non-verbal performance style, and she pulls her audience into Kya’s story and the turns in which it takes.

Because of Kya’s uniqueness as a character, and the framing of this story through her perspective, Where the Crawdads Sing delivers an incredibly interesting mix of genres. It’s part character study, part love story, part drama, part mystery, part legal thriller, and you never know where this story is going to go next, which keeps it all very interesting. There’s suspense and surprise present at the right moments in Where the Crawdads Sing, and I enjoyed the tactile, slow-burn quality to the story. This is a film that finds no reason to hurry and instead takes its time with its narrative and is all the more entertaining because of it. Praise must be given to cinematographer Polly Morgan for her camera work and lighting that captures the humid heat of the South, along with costume designer Mirren Gordon-Crozier whose styling of Kya gives her a backwoods Rapunzel-Southern belle quality.

Finally bringing Where the Crawdads Sing together is the haunting, ethereal vocal tones of Taylor Swift’s ‘Carolina’, a purposely written ballad that captures the essence of Kya and her position as a species of the marsh. Its evocative and effecting tones have a big impact on audiences and help to make the film’s shocking surprise ending subtle, with the audience having to give the story a double take. Swift’s song perfectly matches the actions of Edgar-Jones’s Kya and I can’t think of this film existing without this song.

Where the Crawdads Sing is a poignant film of deep power, and audiences seeking something different will be very intrigued by its concept and character. It’s a memorable watch, and you won’t soon forget the Marsh Girl.

Feeling slightly peckish and craving to quench your horror tastes? Then look no further than Mimi Cave’s inventive and delectably scary new horror movie Fresh, which takes the genre and completely subverts it to tell a chilling story of romance that takes a fiendish turn….and this new watch is sure to unsettle and scratch at the darker edges of your mind.

Spirited young woman Noa (Daisy Edgar-Jones) is unlucky in love and after a seemingly never-ending run of bad dates and creepy men, she’s almost completely given up on love. That is until she meets the handsome, charming and easy-going Steve (Sebastian Stan). Immediately smitten, the two of them instantly fall in love and it’s then that Steve whisks Noa away on a romantic getaway of her dreams. Or so she thinks. Because it turns out Steve has some very ‘unusual appetites’ and he’s hungry for a piece of Noa and very quickly this fairy tale romance turns into a blood-curdling nightmare as Noa desperately tries to escape her new lover’s insatiable hunger for her.

The horror genre finds new room to breathe thanks to director Mimi Cave’s inventive and original new film Fresh which tells a literal tale of a ‘horror romance’ and just when you think you’ve figured Fresh out, Cave throws a left hook right at your face. And damn can she land the punch. Playing with genre and subverting the audience’s expectations at every turn, Fresh is an entirely new and different take on the rom-com meets horror story and there’s plenty to unsettle audiences in this piece of scary cinema expression. As a director, Cave take her time with her story, and lays out the expected before completely pulling the rug out from under the audiences feet. And the results are utterly terrifying. While the less that is said about Fresh’s narrative the better, in order to preserve the surprise, Cave focuses in on themes of co-dependece and the modern dating scene, and all I can say is wait for the twists that are to come.

Stepping up to the role of Noa is English actress Daisy Edgar-Jones and she’s a revelation in the part. Noa is a young woman who is trying to find her way in the world, and Mr. Right, and well the modern dating game of swipe right hasn’t been treating her that well. It’s out of sheer luck that she meets a handsome stranger named Steve (Sebastian Stan). But her blissful romance soon turns dark and it’s here where things get really interesting for Edgar-James. Finding a trusted collaborator in Cave, Edgar-James is really able to let herself go as Noa and for a film like Fresh it’s the only way to play it. This sordid tale of Stockholm-syndrome and a twisted co-dependency has you on edge the whole way through and Edgar-James’ performance only intensifies the haunting sense of foreboding that threaten her at every turn, and her performance as Noa will have you gripping your seat with tension as you watch her play this twisted game of cat and mouse.

As Fresh’s ‘Mr Right’, Sebastian Stan brings a completely 360 performance to bear and plays off of his real-life good-guy reputation to trick the audience. And when he reveals his character’s darker intentions things get gnarly quickly. As Steve, a surgeon who specialises in ‘reconstructive surgery’ he’s every girl’s dreamboat, but he’s secretly harboring a dangerous and evil secret that soon turns nasty. And when he does reveals his true intentions you’ll immediately start freaking the hell out. The key to Stan’s threat in Fresh is the normality that he brings to the character, and his almost non-threatening stance, yes Steve’s an evil prick, but he’s so mellow about everything and his calmness and easy-going smile only adds to the chill that sweeps over the audience. Fresh is another steller film for Stan’s resume and you’ve never seen him like this before, so watch out.

In a cinema landscape where we’ve come to expect the same old kind of horror fare, Fresh is a radically different and especially unsettling kind of horror watch. While there is a good serving of gore, much of the violence and horror of the film is merely implied and shown off-screen, but Cave’s handling of the film’s white-knuckling suspense is sure to drive you crazy and there are plenty of horrifying moments that will make your skin crawl. As a cinematic experience, Fresh is an exercise in sheer dread and its twisted, cooky narrative of a very different kind of love story is sure to keep you on edge the whole way through and this is a very different kind of horror film to experience.

Fresh is a film that brings a pure unexpected piece of horror straight to audiences and it keeps them on a knife’s edge the whole way through. Composed of an incredibly original narrative and two engrossing performances from its lead stars, Fresh is a fiendish little watch and horror fans looking for something different will be well taken care of with this one.
