World War II began with the law. Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party manipulated, rewrote, and weaponised Germany’s legal system in 1933, twisting democracy into dictatorship and stripping an entire population of their human rights. Six years later, the world plunged into unprecedented chaos and violence, costing tens of millions of lives. And when the Allies finally secured victory, they vowed that the law, not vengeance, would end the Nazi regime once and for all.

Now, filmmaker James Vanderbilt brings this monumental moment back into focus with Nuremberg, a haunting psychological thriller that plunges audiences straight into the firestorm of the Nuremberg Trials. This is one of 2026’s most gripping, must-see cinematic events.

The Allies, led by the unyielding chief prosecutor, Robert H. Jackson (Michael Shannon), have the task of ensuring the Nazi regime answers for the unveiled horrors of the Holocaust while a US Army psychiatrist (Rami Malek) is locked in a dramatic psychological duel with former Reichsmarschall Herman Göring (Russell Crowe).

Adapted from Jack El-Hai’s The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, Vanderbilt crafts an edge-of-your-seat narrative that blends historical authenticity with nail-tight tension. The story follows U.S. Army psychiatrist Lt. Colonel Douglas Kelley (Rami Malek), assigned to assess the mental state of the surviving Nazi elite. His greatest challenge: Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe), the last titan of the regime to stand trial.

The result is a battle of wills that ebbs and flows with chilling unpredictability. Even knowing the outcome, you sit in your seat holding your breath, because how this conflict unfolds is where the true terror resides.

Facing off in the heart of this story are two Academy Award-winning heavyweights: Russell Crowe and Rami Malek, both delivering some of their most searing work to date.

Crowe undergoes a complete transformation as Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring. This is not a caricature, but a dangerously charismatic statesman basking in his own grandeur. Crowe plays him with a chilling cocktail of charm, wit, narcissism, and razor-sharp intelligence.

Göring voluntarily surrenders himself and steps onto the world stage once more, determined to win what he sees as the final battle of the war in the courtroom. He twists words, baits opponents, and manipulates every conversation as he fights to evade responsibility for genocide. Crowe’s presence is magnetic; every scene pulses with danger as he reveals Göring not as a mythical monster, but as something far more unsettling: a human being whose decisions led to catastrophic destruction.

It’s one of Crowe’s finest performances in years; an awards-level embodiment of a man both grandiose and grotesque.

Opposite him stands Rami Malek as Lt. Colonel Douglas Kelley. At first, Kelley appears slick, fast-talking huckster, almost opportunistic; someone who sees a personal opportunity in Nuremberg’s chaos. But as he confronts the true horrors committed by the Nazi regime, something deep inside him ruptures.

Kelley’s journey becomes the emotional spine of the film. He desperately seeks to understand how such atrocities were possible, and whether humanity can prevent them from happening again. Malek matches Crowe beat for beat, and their psychological combat becomes a riveting, high-stakes duel between two extraordinary performers operating at the peak of their craft.

Their dynamic is pure cinematic electricity.

Michael Shannon brings stoic intensity as Associate Justice Robert H. Jackson, the man tasked with ensuring that the Nazi leaders are judged by law, not vengeance. Shannon’s performance grounds the film in moral purpose, and Vanderbilt uses the courtroom sequences to steadily escalate tension until it feels like the walls themselves might crack under the weight of history.

With Dariusz Wolski’s gritty cinematography and Tyler Bates’ haunting operatic score, Nuremberg becomes an atmospheric powerhouse. The production design vividly resurrects post-war Germany, a world still smouldering, struggling to understand what has happened and what comes next.

But Vanderbilt refuses to look away from the atrocities revealed in the trial. This is a confronting watch. A necessary one. And in the current global climate, its relevance is impossible to ignore.

Nuremberg is intelligent, gripping, emotionally devastating cinema, anchored by towering performances from Crowe and Malek. It’s a film of immense weight and profound purpose, and without question one of the year’s most important releases.

What we do in life echoes in eternity, and now the power of the Roman Empire readies to leave audiences in adulation once more with Sir Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II which will be the utter event movie of 2024.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Gladiator II swept audiences in the most appropriate place: the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The footage on display dazzled audiences.

It features a special introduction from the legend himself, Sir Ridley Scott, who described the film as ” possibly even more extraordinary than the first.” Rising star Paul Mescal commented that it was a ‘standout moment’ in his life to date, and two-time Academy Award winner Denzel Washington promised that the film was filled with ’emotion and spectacle.’

Footage displayed a thoroughly jacked Mescal, who is a gladiator thrown into the fray and sees him fighting murderous baboons, as well as a soldier on a rhinoceros. At one point, the Colosseum is filled with water for an epic ship battle.

It also seems that Mescal’s character is inspired by Crowe’s Maximus. “I remember that day. I never forgot it. That a slave could take revenge against an emperor. That a slave could get justice in the arena,” he says at one point in the footage, referencing the climax of the first film.

New details from the footage also reveal profoundly anti-war politics, with Pedro Pascal playing a Roman military figure who no longer wants to sacrifice Rome’s young men to war and death and is thus condemned to fight as a gladiator, while Washington is a former gladiator turned arms dealer who becomes a guide to Mescal’s revolutionary, and who has bitter grudge against Rome’s new emperors, Caracalla (Joseph Quinn) and Geta (Fred Hechinger). Quinn’s initial performance has been lauded by those lucky enough to get a first look at the footage, and Caracalla is said to be even more murderous and insane than Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix).

While little detail is currently known of Gladiator II and its immense epic story, its sounding very clear that audiences will be entertained when this bold feat of filmmaking lands in cinemas on November 21.

Academy Award winner Russell Crowe falls into the darkness of the horror genre with a truly terrifying story based in true history in The Pope’s Exorcist. And this is a chilling watch that will rock you to your core!

Inspired by the actual files of Father Gabriele Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican (Academy Award®-winner Russell Crowe), The Pope’s Exorcist follows Amorth as he investigates a young boy’s terrifying possession and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy the Vatican has desperately tried to keep hidden.

Academy Award winner Russell Crowe is one of the biggest draw cards in cinema history. Moving between genres and characters, he’s an actor that commands the attention of an audience and now he jumps head first into the horror genre with the freakishly scary true-life tale of The Pope’s Exorcist. Crowe assumes the role of Father Gabriele Amorth, a Roman Catholic priest who served as the Chief Exorcist of the Vatican for more than 25 years and performed more than 50,000 exorcisms in his time in the church. His life and work are well documented and make for a fitting cinematic adaptation that examines the very essence of light and dark and the battle between good and evil. And the horror gets sinister when dark secrets and an unholy spirit rises up in The Pope’s Exorcist.

Director Julius Avery is becoming a go-to filmmaker when it comes to the horror genre and his previous work on the chilling Overlord made for good practice with The Pope’s Exorcist. Avery winds back the clock with The Pope’s Exorcist and takes us back to the early 1980s. A haunted former monastery in Castile, Spain proves to be the grounds for the presence of a wicked demonic possession of an innocent family and soon Father Amorth is sent to investigate. Mixing together genre elements from paranormal-gothic horror to the detective procedural to conspiracy thriller, all of it plays a part in The Pope’s Exorcist and the results make for a terrifying picture. Not only is the gore ramped up, but Avery gives the film a real psychological edge as Crowe’s Father Amorth goes mano-o-mano with a nameless demon that seeks to get inside his head and test his very soul.

While Crowe has only slightly dabbled in the horror genre it’s a lot of fun to see him fully commit to The Pope’s Exorcist and it’s obvious that he had a blast with the role. The Pope’s Exorcist is that rare scary movie that is very much a character-driven horror experience and is all due to Crowe’s role as Father Amorth. As the learned, devout, inquisitive, and good-natured priest, Crowe’s Amorth is a man who recognises the line between mental health and sheer evil, and it is in this situation that he finds his test. Crowe’s performance is shaped by an almost Falstafien sense of range and dynamic charisma, and there’s plenty of humour and goodwill in his performance. But when darkness falls this priest must call upon his deepest faith to face down the beasts of hell and there are plenty of nerve-racking moments on screen. It’s a lot of fun to see Crowe mix things up the way he does in The Pope’s Exorcist, and I’d certainly be keen to see more from him in the role.

While audiences have become accustomed to the scares of recent paranormal thrillers such as The Conjuring, The Pope’s Exorcist is a horror experience that feels fresher. Its character-driven narrative and use of dark sordid history, including the Catholic church’s role in the horrific events of The Spanish Inquisition, lead it to an experience that’s innovative and intense on screen. The scares hit hard, and Avery’s approach to representing demonic possession, satanic horror and utilising a mix of both practical and visual effects makes it an all the more real and organic experience. The result is a pulse-pounding and freakish watch and audiences will be left wide-eyed and wanting more before the credits start to roll.

Get ready to go to hell and back and come face to face with the devil himself because The Pope’s Exorcist delivers the excitement, thrills and sheer terror that horror fans have been wanting.

If you’re looking for a cinematic experience that will have you on the razor’s edge of terror, then you don’t need to look too far with Russell Crowe’s vindictively terrifying performance in Unhinged, which revs up the scares and floors it with this intense cinema treat!

After a confrontation with an unstable man (Russell Crowe) at an intersection, a woman (Caren Pistorius) becomes the target of his rage.

It’s been a while since audiences have been in cinemas, and director Derrick Borte certainly turns up the volume with his intense road-rage psycho-thriller Unhinged as he taps into our modern-day fears and the frightening element of the unexpected and the unknown. Turning the clock back to good ol’ fashioned grindhouse thrills, Borte pairs a simple and direct story of cat and mouse framed through the context of road rage gone extreme and the result is a white knuckle presentation of absolute on-the-edge fear. Borte shows he has real talent here as a director with Unhinged, and he uses the film’s plotting and acting talent, with Kiwi stars Russell Crowe and Caren Pistorius, to great effect as he weaves his audience through this dangerous tale, and which is packed with shocks at every turn. It’s the unexpected that works in Unhinged and Borte certainly gets a reaction out of his audience with this one.

Stepping into the lead role of the anonymous and unstoppable villain of Unhinged, and who is only described as The Man, is Academy Award winner Russell Crowe. And the Kiwi star brings a unique sense of foreboding in his role as chief antagonist. As The Man, Crowe epitomizes the concept of the shadow, and is a composite of all the ills of our modern society, is the pure representation of just what happens when an ordinary man crosses the line and falls knowingly into the abyss. Vehemently angry and psychotic, Crowe makes for a fearsome antagonist as all of his rage is directed onto ordinary working mum Rachel (Caren Pistorius), who herself is just trying to get by, and the reality and setting of this movie makes it all the scarier! Crowe’s obsession to hunt down Rachel and inflict as much pain as he can on her is certain to send a chill down your spine.

What makes Crowe even scarier is that his acts are never justified, and he never gives a motive for his actions except that he wants Rachel to “know what a bad day feels like.” It’s always scarier when there’s motive. This portrayal of an extremely real-world villain, whom you could easily find on any six o’clock news report, is something that gets under the audience’s skin and Crowe and Borte use this to great effect to frighten their audience. It’s been some time since we’ve last seen Crowe play a villain, and he brings out a monstrous figure as this raging, anonymous homicidal maniac who will stop at nothing. After seeing Crowe’s performance in Unhinged….you’ll certainly want to drive a little easier.

Taking the brunt of Crowe’s force in Unhinged is fellow Kiwi Caren Pistorius, and this young actress brings a great maturity, urgency and survival instinct to the part of Rachel. Best described as a completely normal person, Rachel is dealing with her own problems and through one subtle misdirection incurs the wrath of the unstoppable force that is this anonymous driver bent on taking his rage out on her. Discovering all too quickly how serious he is, Rachel is pushed into flight or fight mode and it’s here where Pistorius performance comes out fully. Pistorius shows plenty of grit and determination to take on Crowe at his own game and twist it in her favour.

In choosing to describe the action of Unhinged, the word car crash is pretty apt, since that’s exactly the level of carnage that director Derrick Borte unleashes on the screen. Placing his audience right inside the real world, Borte doesn’t shy away from the violence of The Man’s actions, and there are moments that are sure to make audiences squirm. Borte takes what’s best about the thriller genre and strips it down to its bare elements with this very simple chase concept, and the result is sure to keep audiences on edge the entire time because these thrills don’t let up.

If you’re seeking some thrills that will have your heart racing from a surging adrenaline rush then Unhinged is definitely that you need to watch pronto….but just remember to hold on tight!

When it comes to dramatic effect, Academy Award winner Russell Crowe knows how to drive things home, and in his latest film, the high-stakes thriller Unhinged, he unleashes the monster and lets loose with an utterly terrifying performance.

Watch the intense and shocking new trailer below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

A single mother (Caren Pistorius) begins to be stalked and tormented by a stranger (Russell Crowe) following a road rage confrontation at a red light.

Directed by Derrick Borte, Unhinged takes the concept of road rage and dials it up to 100 as a single isolated incident becomes an increasingly dangerous game of cat and mouse as single mother Rachel (Pistorius) finds herself targeted by a dangerous and aggressive stalker (Crowe) who wants to take out his raw rage upon her.

Crowe has completely transformed himself for the role of The Man, and his ordinary guy character becomes a seemingly unstoppable aggressor as he looks to take out all of his life’s frustrations on Rachel and her family over this single slight. It’s a terrifying performance on behalf of Crowe and he will seriously have you on edge with this character.

Crowe is joined by fellow Kiwi Caren Pistorius as Rachel, a single mother who herself is going through hard times, only to find herself under the threat of this unstoppable aggressor. It’s a great role for the young actress and she looks to hold her own against Crowe.

This trailer will seriously have you on edge, and Borte’s direction promises a film that will have you gripping the corners of your seat, while your heart rate skyrockets!

In an interesting update, Unhinged has also been moved forward from its original release date of September 4, 2020 to July 1, 2020, and is being used to test the waters for cinemas and this new cinematic experience that we now find ourselves in with COVID-19. It’ll be interesting to see how it develops from here and whether Unhinged will make it’s new July release date, but if it does come together we could have a template for future releases to follow this year.

Unhinged will arrive in cinemas on July 1.

When hired enforcer Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) unwittingly teams up with private eye Holland March (Ryan Gosling), the mismatched pair find themselves drawn into a conspiracy that involves the death of a fading adult film star, and the missing daughter of the head of the Department of Justice. With time running out, it’s a race against the clock to solve a case that could have major consequences for the the city of Los Angeles.

Writer/director Shane Black (Iron Man 3, Lethal Weapon) returns to the big screen with a bang in this completely original and very sharp noir crime comedy. Black is no stranger to the concepts or the characters of the detective genre, and here he goes all-out creating two memorable, and often booze-soaked characters to rival Philip Marlowe. Black also throws his audience into the seedy period rich world of 1970s Hollywood with a disco-charged score to cruise along to.

Russell Crowe takes on the role of heavy set bruiser Jackson Healy, and he really nails it in terms of characterisation and nuance as the more sensible, if more violent half of the duo. Crowe portrays Healy as an unscrupulous collector with a heart of gold, a tough guy who’ll do you a good deed for a good price, and who never asks questions. But once he stumbles onto a case that’s bigger than himself, his usual back alley ethics no longer apply, and he’s forced to become emotionally involved.

Side by side with Crowe is Ryan Gosling as Holland March, an idiotic, boozer loser private eye who finds himself caught up in extraordinary events alongside Healy. Gosling is nothing short of pure comic genius as March, who’s always willing to be inappropriate in the best possible way. This is unlike anything Gosling has ever done before, and audiences will be laughing uncontrollably at his on-screen antics.

Stuck between the world’s ‘worst detectives’ is newcomer Angourie Rice who steals the movie as March’s daughter Holly. Unlike her father, she’s smart, quick, and has a handle on life, as well as the ability to drive. No matter who her co-star is, Rice is always the scene stealer, and her future as an actress is sure to be bright. Also co-starring in The Nice Guys is real life ‘nice guy’ Matt Bomer who sheds his friendly image as the sociopathic Walton-like assassin John Boy. Bomer is completely chilling, and his cool demeanor makes for an even more terrifying performance.

The Nice Guys sets the standard for one of the coolest character pairings of the last twenty years, and I’m sure it’s destined to be pointed to as one of the best buddy cop films of all time. So make sure you get in on this case, because you can trust the Nice Guys to deliver the goods.
